The 2nd Annual Sunhak Peace Prize laureate to be

announced on Nov. 29 (Tues)

 

Announcement to be made on Nov. 29 (Tues) 5pm (US Eastern Standard Time)
at the JW Marriott Washington D.C.
Laureate chosen from 225 candidates spanning 76 nations

 

 

The Sunhak Peace Prize Committee Chair, Dr. Il Sik Hong (former President of Korea University), will announce the prize’s 2nd annual laureate on Nov. 29 at 5pm (Washington DC local time). The award is quickly building praise in South Korea as the country’s Nobel Peace Prize equivalent.

 

Under the motto, “Making the World Better for Future Generations,” the Sunhak Peace Prize, in its 2nd awarding, was established to recognize individuals and organizations that had made enduring contributions to humanity for the betterment of our future, and to seek out a model for a new civilization of peace in the 21st century.

 

The Sunhak Peace Prize Committee received 225 nominations from over 76 nations through a recommendation panel made up of dignitaries from around the world, laureates of international prizes, worldly renowned academic organizations, NGOs, etc. The nominations were then reviewed by the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee consisting of 12 international members including Chairman Dr. Il Sik Hong, and Larry Beasley, President of the Washington Times, and upon conducting further field analysis, will announce their final selection on Nov. 29.

 

 

 

The awardee will be honored at a ceremony in Seoul, South Korea, on February 3, 2017 (Friday).
